Innovative Access to Care for At-Risk Populations Now Accepting Medicare Part B

Kansas City, MO – The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) approved Kansas City’s newest diagnostic imaging provider, New Frontier Mobile Diagnostics, as a Medicare Part B provider, covering procedures to diagnose heart disease, vascular disorders, and other conditions.

“By announcing NFMD’s Medicare coverage approval, we’re sending a clear message to physicians, care teams, and patients that we’re ready to provide access to quality diagnostic care in Kansas and Missouri,” says Jeff Blackwood, the company’s founder.

New Frontier uses technology such as portable imaging laptops from GE to provide hospital-quality diagnostic imaging solutions in physician’s offices or in care facilities, even in rural locations where traditional imaging solutions may require hours of driving.

“We want to make sure everyone can access quality diagnostic care when they need it, where they need it,” says Blackwood.

Quality was built into the company from the start, according to Blackwood. In September, New Frontier announced a partnership with Kansas City-based Healient Physician Group to provide medical oversight and interpretations for patient procedures.

“Heart disease, stroke, and diabetes didn’t stop because of the pandemic; these conditions still need to be diagnosed and treated,” says Dr. David Burkart, principal of Healient. “By partnering with New Frontier, we’re helping vulnerable patients minimize their risk of exposure to Covid-19 by bringing trained healthcare technologists into their care facilities to perform diagnostic procedures.”

New Frontier started procedures in July 2020, and the company is already seeing the positive impact that ease of access to care can have in the Kansas City health market.

“Medicare approval is an important step for New Frontier, as we try to bring affordable, quality care to patients,” said Blackwood. “As we grow, New Frontier will continue to balance quality with affordability for our patients. We can bring the imaging center directly to the people that need it.”
