May is National Stroke Awareness Month

Find me on:

Every year, more than 795,000 people in the United States have a stroke, or a reduction in blood supply to the brain, causing brain tissue to die within minutes from lack of oxygen and nutrients. To raise awareness of this deadly disorder, May has been designated as National Stroke Awareness Month.

Carotid artery disease and blood clots lead to 86% of strokes, known as ischemic stroke. Ultrasound imaging plays a critical role in the prevention of ischemic stroke by allowing health care technologists to “see” inside the patient’s arteries with sound waves. A trained eye can use the resulting images to detect the presence of plaque in arteries or clots in the patient’s blood, hopefully before these conditions lead to a stroke.

New Frontier recognizes the benefits that imaging brings to stroke prevention, so we’re discounting Carotid ultrasound studies (93880 Carotid) performed at a qualified practice throughout the month of May.

Contact your health care provider to learn more. If they recommend a carotid ultrasound, ask them to contact New Frontier Mobile Diagnostics at (913) 428-9488, so you can receive quality, affordable answers.
